Indigene Economics Group LLC has learned (two months after the fact) that David Glass has retired from federal service, where for several years he had been the leading light of the Indian Loan Guarantee Program (ILGP) as its Northwest Zone Manager.
David is an enrolled member of Minnesota’s White Earth Nation, and his tribal name is Zhawanuinini.
As the CEO of the American Indian economic Development Fund for ten years and the manager of the Turtle Island Native American Procurement Technical Assistance Center for two years, Glass had already established himself as one of the country’s foremost authorities on indigenous economic development, but most know him for his productive tenure with the ILGP thereafter.
Always cheerful and appreciative of a good joke, he was fiercely dedicated to economic progress in Indian Country. He was generous with his time and worked hard for Native businesses, time and time again going to extra lengths to secure financing for what he called “Indianpreneurs.”
He was also a national leader of the successful campaign to convince the Washington, DC’’s NFL franchise to jettison the team’s racist name.
We wish David a happy retirement and want him to know how much he is respected and appreciated.

One of the best colleagues I ever had the good fortune to work with.
