As a cheerleader for the Senate GOP's ravaging of clean energy tax incentives, Energy Secretary and former fossil fuel executive Chris Wright recently referred to wind and solar energy as “parasites on the grid.”
The truth is that solar and wind can be built far more cheaply and quickly than natural gas fired power plants which, owing to a backlog on turbines, take seven years to complete. That is why 90% of new power plants are based on wind or solar energy.
Far from being “parasites,” wind and solar are indispensable bridges to nuclear and other technologies of the future.
